Step 1 - Give, Expecting to Receive

No matter how well you understand the principles of biblical economics discussed in this book, understanding alone is not enough to unleash God’s prosperity in your life.

Contrary to common belief, the Bible does not simply say, “The truth will set you free!” John 8:32 does, however, say: “…ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). The Greek word translated know goes beyond the most common usage of the English word know. Here, in this context, it refers to a knowing which is beyond head knowledge. It speaks of a person who actually is walking in the truth, one who is being set free by the truth he knows and practices.

At this point of our study, you no doubt understand that giving is the first step toward God’s abundance in your life. You know that this is not achieved by just “knowing” words, but through your actual giving. (If you still do not have a strong conviction that these principles work, I suggest you go back about twenty lessons and take another look at each of these biblical precepts).

God’s greatest act of giving was done with full expectation of receiving something in return. Our Creator gave His most precious Son, Jesus Christ, to die because He knew He would receive in return sons and daughters: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

I hope you have already planted a liberal field of money-seeds “in the name of Jesus.” Now, expect to reap a money harvest from each and every seed you planted. Some would say, “But, Brother John, that just doesn’t sit well with me. When I give to God, I don’t expect anything in return.” Whether you expect it or not, God will not change His laws. You give money seeds, and you will reap a money harvest. Sow deeds of kindness, and you will reap deeds of kindness, because the Bible clearly states that we get back what we give: Be not deceived; God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7

So, if you have believed God's Word and planted money seeds, keep on believing God’s Word that you will receive a money harvest! The Bible clearly states that we will reap if we don’t give up: And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Isn’t that wonderful? You can give, expecting a harvest! Since you can expect a harvest, while you are waiting the return on your sowing you can be planning the strategic planting of even more money seeds from your coming money harvest. Think of it! You can have a perpetual harvest, if you have faith for perpetual seeding. Remember: seed time and harvest are guaranteed in God’s Word.
